Caroline and Kylii left for Girls Camp Saturday morning. They spent two weeks preparing and making themselves exhausted so that they could go away for a week and get really dirty and live without an air conditioner. At least they know that we will not be comforatable at home because, "just my luck", our air conditioner just broke down and it will take over a week to get it repaired.
Saturday morning I loaded up the girls and went to Korts championship baseball game. Kort plays on the Phillies. This is his first year in AA Little League. This town is serious about their baseball. There was a 20 minute fireworks show at the opening night ceremony in April. Who has opening ceremonies? And who has fireworks?? It was impressive. Kort had some great coaches that made the game fun but still taught good skills. By the end of the season Kort had improved so much in batting they put him first in the line up. In this final game of the season, the Phillies played their nemesis, the Padres. There is some history here. The Padres lost by 1 run last year to the Phillies in the championship game. This year the Padres beat the Phillies twice in the regular season and were undefeated going into the championship game. I'm certain the Padres have a few 10 year olds that could sign professional contracts right now. The game was so much fun! The Phillies played their best game of the year. Kort went 2-3 with two RBIs and scored one run. His second hit was crucial because it gave his team a 2 run lead and the Padres pulled their best pitcher afterward. The Phillies won 10-4. I can't believe I'm talking about 9-10 year old baseball like this but it was unbelievable! Kort got a really neat trophy and he really had a good time. Here is a short movie clip with pictures and two of his hits in the championship game.
Way to go KORT!!!, Great job PHILLIES!!
