Kylii Turns 12

Our kids are growing up way too fast. However, for Kylii, turning 12 didn't get here fast enough. She has been anticipating this birthday for such a long time! Twelve is a significant age in our church. For boys, it's the age when they can receive the Aaronic Priesthood. For girls, it's the age when they begin attending Young Womens classes on Sunday. Both boys and girls start attending Mutual activities on Wednesdays. Each week is a different activity. It could be a service project in the community, learning a new skill such as cooking or dancing. The possibilities are endless. Needless to say, the kids really look forward to these weekly activities.

For Kylii's birthday party, she wanted to have a bonfire at the beach with her friends. So Friday night we loaded two cars with girls and made the trek to Manresa State Beach. They were so excited to be there! We lit a fire and fed them dinner. They also played volleyball and chased the waves for a while. I love the beach and try to go as often as possible in the summer. But in our seven years of living here, I've never been to the beach at NIGHT. It was absolutely beautiful! We've really been missing out. Time for change:-)

After the beach patrol told us our cars were about to be towed, we hurriedly packed up and left. We went back home to open Kylii's gifts and have cake and ice cream. Kylii has some darling friends and they were very generous with their gifts. We (the parents) hope they had as much fun as we did. Happy Birthday Kylii! We love you!
