If you are ever driving along Hwy 101 in the bay area and see the exit sign for San Juan Bautista, it is a detour worth taking. It is a quaint little California Mission town with it's main street dotted with antique stores, restaurants, and roosters. Yes, I said roosters. They freely walk up and down the streets! Yesterday I took my two oldest children to SJB to participate in a 5k run. Upon completion of the race, we walked to our car and spotted these roosters on a street corner. I was so glad I had my camera handy. I spent about 10 minutes taking pictures, intrigued by the vivid colors of these birds. It was ALMOST as fun as running the race with my kids. They were awesome, by the way! It was their first experience running in a race and they were troopers the whole way. We only stopped twice to walk for a minute (they had sideaches:-D). Yet they admitted to having fun and want to do another. Yay!

Why did the chicken cross the road?
Because he lived in San Juan Bautista... Ha! that's a good one.
I always enjoy the chickens. The roosters are fabulous and I love the spring when the baby chickies are marching around.
I'm glad you had fun on the race. I'm glad you posted about it.
